For people, not the powerful

Queensland Socialists are a new electoral party shaking up politics as usual—rebuilding a fighting socialist movement and an anti-capitalist alternative to Liberal and Labor, amplifying the fights for workers, housing and economic justice, climate action, against racism and war, and for the better world we think is possible.

Queensland desperately needs a political force that stands up to the powerful and stands with ordinary people who are fighting back.

Successive Queensland governments have sided with big business while attacking workers’ living standards. Under the Crisafulli LNP government public sector workers, including nurses and teachers, have faced real wage cuts through below-inflation pay offers, staffing crises, and a government that denounces workers for fighting back and striking.

At the same time, the Queensland government has deepened the housing crisis by failing to invest in public housing, while opening the door to privatisation, developer handouts and the sell-off of public land. Rents have skyrocketed, homelessness has risen, and working-class communities are being pushed out in the name of “development”. This is increasingly justified by projects linked to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

That's why we’re taking inspiration from the Victorian Socialists and building a political force in this state that puts people before profit and fights for the rights of workers and the oppressed.
